...and its urban decay. Its magnificent but sad at the same time. I normally work out of Lansing, but for this week and the next two, I'm in Detroit at a client's site. So after work yesterday I decided to ventured out to see some of the fascinating specimens of urban decay, and I wanted to share it with you guys.

Ha, I was on a timeframe. I was suppose to go on a date with my wife later that night (Buffalo Wild Wings!). Plus, I really wanted to see the Central Station. My dad is a civil engineer, so like him, I have an immense love of great architecture. The warehouse was just a nice bonus.

Next week, I'm gonna try to aim for the Faygo HQ & Packard Plant. I really want to see both.

Packard plant is a sight .... its just so big, and when you see how dead everything is around it, you can tell that when it closed so did the surrounding area.

Yeah, I've seen pics from Google earth and street view, it looks so desolate.

That may be, but I do love great architecture. Central Station is magnificent in its design. I really wish they would 'fix it up', its sad that it hasn't been used for so long. I could care less about the warehouse. Just save Central Station!

It's not good for people who live in it or around it. It's only a good thing for the hipsters who think it's cool to live in places like this...

Edit: Also, did your car's suspension/tires come out in one piece after driving on the abominations that the government calls roads in Detroit?

Just reminds me that they should have kept using Detroit for the Batman movies rather than New York City and Pittsburgh.

And also apparently the Transformer movies. My dad said they were filming the original right below his office in Detroit.

You're right. Honestly, downtown Detroit looks like the slums. I would never want to live there, but I do enjoy the old and new buildings side-by-side. I wish Downtown was more active, because I love visiting it and I have a history with it (my dad worked there). Growing up, it was a place of wonderment. I remember seeing/riding the trolley before they decided to do away with it. Riding the people mover around the city. Looking out of my dad's work window where everything looked like toys. Plus the auto shows, they were/are awesome. Of course, I never knew about anything of these abandoned buildings at all growing up, so in a way it's like I'm re-discovering Detroit....the sadder side of it.

The roads are ok. East Lansing is pretty bad. My car's suspension is probably jacked up anyways, I live on dirt roads. They can re-grade it, yes, but give it a couple of weeks and it'll be in rough shape.
